“Precision in training creates perfection on the battlefield.”
OK everyone it’s time to take a deeper look into one of three factions of MAG and see if this is the faction for you to start on or the faction for you to pledge your allegiance too. For starters we’ll go over who and what Raven Industries actually is, their strong points, and their weaknesses.
What is Raven Industries: Raven Industries is a Private Military Corporation run by CEO Antoine Jeanette and is based out of Vienna Austria specializing in the state of the art technology and revolutionary weaponry (Which as awesome as this may sound sadly it doesn’t give them an edge up god damn teases… what can I say they don’t make anything like they used to anymore).
Raven Industries Strong Points: For the entire time I’ve been playing as Raven which is only 25 levels which I feel is enough to write a review up on the faction (Kotaku.com only leveled to 16) considering this game like any online FPS is completely linear it’s the same thing no story changes, so to speak I’ve experienced it all. So far at this juncture of my MAG career as a Raven player (Which might I say I am absolutely in love with) I have noticed a few key advantages to the Raven faction that give them a slight up over the other two factions (keyword being slight) in certain areas such as accuracy. The guns that are provided to Raven Industries armies don’t really seem to be all that “High-Tech” or “Advanced” but they are extremely accurate as far as the games guns go, where you aim is where the bullet is going to go you also don’t have to worry about as much recoil either so you don’t have to be afraid about the cross-hairs wandering off of your target. The next advantage that I’ve noticed is the fire rate for almost all of ravens weapons is noticeably higher then S.E.V.R. or Valor’s guns, which when you think about it seems like it may be an unfair advantage but in all actuality it balances out the game quite well for Raven to have these few perks you’ll see why below.
Raven Industries Disadvantages: Although Raven has superior accuracy, less recoil, and a faster fire rate their amount of firepower is at a significant loss to the other two factions. S.E.V.R. has the highest fire power weapons, Valor has the second highest, and Raven has the lowest. The worst part about this is probably the sniper rifle you would assume a sniper rifle to do massive damage well guess what it doesn’t, not only does it not do enough damage it does uneven damage. The Raven sniper does damage like this first shot 49dmg second shot 50dmg leaving your opponent with 1 health so now not only have you blown your cover if you didn’t head shot him he has now had the chance to heal himself. Not to mention sometimes it seems like you empty an entire clip into a S.E.V.R. player (and you will) and then he will return three shots from an LMG and bam! you’re dead no resuscitation just dead. I can’t even begin to count how many times this made me want to send my controller flying across the room to shatter into hundreds of pieces (which I would never do to my Split Fish FRAG FX v2.0 which I will be reviewing later). Continuing… aside from lacking the fire power I haven’t noticed any other downsides to playing as Raven, as far as I can tell Raven is for the more experienced players of MAG it almost seems like they made the three factions the difficulty levels S.E.V.R. being easy, Valor being medium, and Raven being hard. The good thing about this though is the fact that it forces you to play strategically you can’t just go around guns blazing across the entire map. Each faction has it’s weakness as well as strong points you just have to know how to use them to your advantage.
Raven End Note: Personally I absolutely love this faction and am not looking forward to moving onto the next two factions which I will so I can get trophies and so I can do the reviews on them as well. Raven is a fun faction to play on but expect it to be hard and expect to put a lot of effort into teamwork you should definitely have a mic to play on Raven communication is key to success, not only will not having a mic probably get you booted anyway due to the fact that this is a strategic shooter you will probably have a lot of people frustrated with you, or you will just get frustrated at the lack of help you receive due to the fact you can’t ask for help. If you have good hand-eye co-ordination, good team skills, and are a pro at shooters Raven is the place you want to be. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart.
Now I know that seemed like a lot of reading but you tell me you haven’t spent that much time doing something far less constructive like Farmville? Maybe Mafia Wars? Certain random anonymous blog sites? Point taken? Good.
Anyway thanks for reading I hope this was helpful.
